DESCRIPTION
The Westin Nanea Ocean Villas offers 390 luxurious villas, along with a variety of amenities, including a 10,000-square-foot, lagoon-style swimming pool with an upper pool, a children’s beach pool and play area, two plunge pools, a beach bar, three oceanfront cabanas and a Westin Workout fitness studio.
For centuries, before western contact, Kā‘anapali was home to Maui ali‘i, fishponds, lo‘i kalo and sacred sites. Through coordination and collaboration with historical and cultural community members, the design concepts came to life through motifs and architectural elements throughout the project. These concepts are imminent not only through the projects design, but through active cultural programming: Hīna‘i – The fishing basket design is tied to the ancient fishing village that had been in the area, The Piko – Piko, or umbilical design on the floor of the lobby is another symbol important to Hawaiian culture. It represents inter-generational continuity and our links with the past and our ancestors, Courtyard – The courtyard was designed to resemble Hawai‘i’s ancient land division system called an ahupua‘a, has beautiful waterfalls and a wide-range of Native Hawaiian vegetation.
