The Hilo Municipal Golf Course is a Par 71, 18-hole golf course managed by the County of Hawaii Parks and Recreation Division. This beautifully maintained course provides stunning views of the Hilo coast and is available all year round. The Hilo Municipal Course was designed by Willard Wilkinson and was opened to the public in 1951, making it one of the oldest golf courses in Hawaii.

DESCRIPTION

Located on the east side of the big island of Hawaii, the Hilo Municipal Golf Course now boasts new facilities and landscaping following an extensive renovation. The Hawai‘i County Department of Parks and Recreation’s project for improving the Hilo Municipal Golf Course includes replacing the clubhouse facility, waterlines and both of the course restrooms, reconstructing four greens, and performing various maintenance and repair work throughout the site.

Another key component involves bringing the Hilo Municipal Golf Course and adjacent driving range into full compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act. The $12.8 million project has additional design and construction work which included the construction of a new clubhouse building, a new cart storage building and a new maintenance shed.

Other upgrades include a new chipping area, new comfort station, repaving portions of the parking lot as well as repairs and alterations to existing buildings.
